5 mysterious settings for you next short story

Ready to get writing? Here are 5 perfectly haunting places for you next story to take place in.  1. Stonehenge  No one knows how those huge rocks got on top of a huge hill, back when there were no cranes or other heavy machinery. Does this get you inspired? Try writing from the perspective of a detective, a ghost who haunts the tourists who visit Stonehenge, or a girl who falls in a secret portal between stones.  2. The Pyramids  There are new tunnels under the pyramids that are still getting discovered. And there are also tombs filled with treasure to give your story some oomph.  3. The Bermuda Triangle Boats and humans go missing in the Bermuda Triangle. Maybe someone in your story will figure out why, where, and how.  4. Tower of London  Where many people were beheaded. Do their ghosts still live there? (Not really, don’t worry. But in your story anything’s possible!) 5. Easter Island What do those heads mean? Where are their bodies?  Hope these got you thinking! God loves you and

Little typos in popular movies

Watch out for these in your favorite movies! You’ll want to rewatch them all now!  1. White Christmas  Watch that dance scene between Vera Ellen and Danny Kaye carefully. Do you see Vera trip over his leg slightly at the end?  2. Braveheart  During a fight scene, a modern white car is seen behind the charging warriors. 3. North by Northwest   In Mt. Rushmore Cafeteria, someone covers their ears a minute before any threat, like he had had to endure many takes of loud noises and knew precisely when it would be coming.  4. The Shining  You know the maze? Well, it magically appears later in the movie, because at the beginning you see a shot taken from the air and there’s no maze in sight  5. Harry Potter  “You have your mother’s eyes”  Not exactly. Harry’s eyes are blue, and Lily’s are brown (at least in the movie’s casting)  Did you notice any of these? Tell me below!

Old Wives Tales (read this and be surprised!)

Below is a list of popular opinions or beliefs that are actually old wives tales. You’ll probably surprised by the things you’ve been doing for years without realizing they’re fake!    1. Wait an hour after eating to swim  This is actually false!  2. Eating carrots improves your eyesight  Carrots are some of my favorite vegetables, and I still have to wear glasses 😂 3. Cracking knuckles causes arthritis  Not really, But it sure is annoying! 4. Peeing on a jelly fish sting helps No! Please don’t try this at home!  5. Bulls hate the color red  Nope! They run at a matador because some stranger is waving a flag in your face. Wouldn’t you be annoyed too?  6. The Five Second Rule  This is false also. Pls do not eat off the floor unless you’re a dog  7. Humans only use 10 percent of their brain power False! Though possibly true if you believed this myth lol  8. Food with mayonnaise spoils faster Not true either! You know what is true though? Mayonnaise is gross!  9. Put brandy on a baby’s gu

5 symptoms of a creative mind

The best kind of disease.  I know how it feels to be different. I’ve always seen the world in a different way, and I realized that was because I have a creative mind. I notice the little things. Do you feel the same way too?  1. Questions  Are you constantly asking questions to know more about the world?  2. Passionate  Do you love what you do? Do you craft to the best of your ability? Or are you too weighed down with the cares of the world?  3. Emotional  Your strong emotions are a sure sign of your creative mind.  4. 5 weird but cute things my dog does

Image
Pets do lots of weird things. Especially my dog.  (Example: this is a photo of my dog drinking a “bark-arita” [just water, never give your dog alcohol] in her human chair)  1. She makes a better door than a window  Every time we’re watching TV, she stands on the back of the couch, blocking the screen, until my dad moves her.  2. Picky eater  She’ll only eat her food if we use a special brand. We also have to switch up her kibble every once in a while, cause she gets bored. Even then we still have to add water, meal mixers, and some treats.  3. Treat leaver Once we lifted up our couch cushions. There were like 10 milk bones in the cracks. She never eats her treats unless they are very tiny, and she leaves the residue everywhere!  4. Lazy butt  I think of dogs as energetic. Well, not my dog. She spends all day on her little pillow snoozing away. 5. 15 min  Every day, at five o’clock on the dot, my dog runs around super crazily for just fifteen minutes. Then she sleeps till morning.  Jus

10 Crafty ways to surprise people

My dad is NEVER surprised, so I got inspired to come up with fun ways to surprise people who aren’t easily surprised. These are super sweet too, so they are fine for kids and people who hate surprises. Great for birthdays, harmless April Fools, and other such occasions.  1. Balloon door  When they are sleeping, tape a bunch of multi-colored streamers over their door. Make sure to just tape it on the wall, not on the door. Pop a bunch of balloons through the holes in the streamers, not securing them tightly. When they open the door, a cascade of balloons will fall out on them!  2. Underwear swap Switch all the family member’s underwear. Switch a father’s underwear with a baby’s diaper etc.  3. Rubber ducks  Buy a BIG pack of rubber ducks. Fill the kitchen drawers, cabinets, closets, everywhere! with rubber ducks.  4. Breakfast in bed  Plan a special meal for a beloved family member and serve it to them for no reason. They’ll be so happy, and so surprised!  5. Balloon closet  Fill a clo

A Famous Crafter Comes to Tea

This is a little conversation I imagined in my mind between me and this famous, yet controversial crafter. Not all information is guaranteed to be accurate, and I wish the dear Martha S. no offense.  M: Hello, thanks for having me!  CCC: Sure thing, Martha! Please, make yourself comfortable.  Martha: ok, I heard that you have some questions for me.  CCC: Yes. Here’s question number 1. How old ARE you?  Martha: Wow, knife to the gut. You’re just like my old prison mate, One Legged Billy. Do I really have to answer that question?  CCC: Yes, this is an interview for my blog. I already told my grandma about it.  Martha (sighs): Fine. I turn 20 on August Third.  CCC: Really, Martha?  Martha: Of course! You think I’m a liar?  CCC: I mean. . .  Martha: FINE! I’m turning eighty.  CCC: That makes sense.  Martha: What are you implying?  CCC: Umm, I said that your age makes sense because you are so wise.  Martha: Thank you, darling. CCC: I’m sorry, I don’t mean to sound offensive Martha. You’re

Healthy Spiced Butterscotch Cookies

Image
Have a sweet tooth but want to stay healthy? This recipe is perfect for you! Mix 3/4 cup of melted butter, 1 cage free organic egg, and 2-4 tablespoons of all natural maple syrup.  3. Add 1 and 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, a pinch of salt, a pinch of nutmeg, a pinch of cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.  4. Add 1 cup of butterscotch chips.  5. Scoop the dough into little balls on a greased baking tray.  It makes about 16 large cookies. Serving size: One cookie. (Recommended serving size. No judgement.)  6. My Favorite Joke of All Time!

Thanks Mom!  Why do ducks wear underwear? To cover their butt-quacks!  (My apologies everyone. It’s my mother’s fault.)

The Lost Mona Lisa

We all know the Mona Lisa, one of THE MOST FAMOUS paintings in the world. But did you know that a few years ago, another Da Vinci painting was discovered? Read this post to find out more!   A while back, another Da Vinci painting was found. Yet the painting was so worn and faded no one could tell if it was Da Vinci work after all.  They handed the painting over to a famous art restorer, who worked away carefully trying to find out if this painting was done by the famous artist himself.  She worked on it for a very long time.  The painting was of Jesus Christ. When the restorer got to the lips, she suddenly knew it must be a Da Vinci.  In the famous Mona Lisa painting, the woman’s smile has been an object of fascination among art historians and fans everywhere. Such a secret, concealing smile.  Well, the art restorer working on the painting of Christ found that His smile mirrored that of the Mona Lisa’s. Some are skeptical. Others believe. The painting ends up in the National Gallery o

5 books

This is a fun exercise for my brain. It also cuts me to the core! Because I want you to imagine what five books you’d take if your house was burning down and you were forced to leave. It is interesting to think about, and if you love books as much as me, it probably makes you want to cry! But don’t worry, this is only hypothetical and your precious books are safe and unharmed. Just imagine.  1. The Bible  I mean, I’d really have to take it. It is such an important part of our religion, which is why it is number one on this list!  2. Three Sisters My grandfather lives in a nursing home because of his mental health issues. But he specifically asked my mom to get me a book that he remembered and thought I would love. Isn’t that amazing? He picked out this beautifully written play for me, and even wrote a special note in it. He hardly ever writes because his illness makes it hard, but he still wrote “I love you” inside this book. Doesn’t that make you want to cry?  3. Any book I’m in the

Homemade flowers

Image
I love crafting my own flowers, and these worked really well! You can fill a bowl with them, tape them to the walls, and more!  1. Cut a circle out of poster board, or other thick paper.  2. Fold the circle in half both ways.  3. Use scissors to cut snips on the ends of the creases.  4. Cut further, going all the way down the crease.  5. Warm up your hot glue gun!  6. Place a dot of hot glue on one of your cut creases, wrapping the paper around to the other crease.  7. Repeat step 6 on all of the creases. Now you have a flower shaped bowl! 8. Hot glue tissue paper inside the bowl to complete your flower.

Random weird things

You’re welcome. And, I apologize.  1. Hot dog!  Apparently, some people are going around trying to secretly hide hot dogs on people WITHOUT THEM NOTICING! Imagine finding a raw tube of animal in your pocket!  Well, now you won’t leave the house for a decade, and I don’t blame you.  2. A joke  Why do ducks wear underpants?  To cover their butt quacks. (Apologize parents. This post is rated PG.)  3. Periods  The little period above a j or i is called a tittle.  4. How to make a simple ring

Image
Need some jewelry to brighten your fingers? With this easy to follow guide, you’ll have beautifully adorned fingers in no time!  You’ll need: 1 cheap, plastic beaded necklace  Hot glue gun  Hot melt glue gun sticks 1 plastic star, gem, or other decoration Scissors  Cut a small portion of your beaded necklace off. Measure it against the width of your finger, and then double the amount.  Hot glue the ends together, to make the base of your ring.  Hot glue your charm on top!  BONUS FEATURE: Hot glue hacks Refrigerate your hot glue melt sticks to reduce those pesky glue gun hairs!  Use a sewing needle to unclog your glue gun (make sure the glue gun is unplugged!)  To successfully attach something with hot glue, hold the charm down gently with one finger, while another finger keeps the base attached.  I like it when the hot glue is warm but not too warm, at more of a slime consistency than a liquid. It makes things less painful overall, and I think it keeps things attached longer.  You can

Dog Castle DIY

Image
I made this for my dog’s birthday! First, take one large cardboard box. Open up the bottom and cut off the flap. Flip it upside down so that the bottom is closed and the top is open.  Cut a door in the front.  Hot glue fabric all around the box, and over the top. I find this makes the castle cozier.  Hot glue some gold lining around the inside of the door.  Fill the castle with blankets and cozy pillows.  Decorate the inside of the castle however you wish.  Hot glue a pouch to the front. Write treats on it. Fill the box with treats for your puppy.  Paint your box however you wish.  Have a great crafty day! Love you all!

How to make a shibori dyed tablecloth

Shibori is a Japanese way of tie dying fabric. For your fabric, don’t choose anything too soft. I used some sturdy canvas for this, and the results were beautiful!  Fold the fabric into a square. Grab some rubber bands and secure the folded fabric in place.  Place the folded fabric in a large bucket you don’t mind getting dirty. Fill the bucket with slightly warmed water. Pour about 5 tablespoons of indigo shibori dye into the bucket.  Make sure you’re wearing rubber latex gloves 🧤 when you work to protect your hands.  Swirl the fabric around in the blue water.  Drain the bucket.  Let your tablecloth dry in the bucket.  When the tablecloth is COMPLETELY dry, take off the rubber bands and unfold your fabric. Isn’t it beautiful?  Have a lovely day! God loves you and so do I!

Special “Hourglass” Experiment

Who says science can’t be crafty? This experiment is super cool, and fun, and I think it will amaze you.  Today we’ll be making a sort of hourglass, but instead of measuring minutes and seconds it will measure the fossils of the earth.  Here are your ingredients:  1/2 cup Sand 1 cup Plaster of Paris 1/2 cup pebbles  3 colors of Tempra Paint Powder  Small Packet Beads of Choice  1 Water Bottle, Empty  Scissors  Varying Amounts of Water  Three Bowls 1 Spoon  In a bowl, mix the sand and half the amount of plaster of Paris.  In a separate bowl mix the pebbles and the remainder of the plaster of Paris.  Divide the sand mixture equally in the three bowls. Add one color of Tempra Paint Powder per each bowl.  Divide your beads into three types, either by color or by shape.  Put one type of beads per each bowl of sand mixture.  Cut the top off of your empty water bottle.  Pour one color of sand and beads in the bottom of the bottle.  Add half the rocks.  Add the second color of sand and beads.

1. Sewing machine basics

Here is the first class in my dress making series! The kind of dress we will be making is a simple sleeveless a - line made from black fabric.  First, you’ll need to know your way around a sewing machine.  The instructions might be different based on your machine. Refer to your manual.  Once your machine is threaded,  make sure the end of your thread is at least three inches long, or else it will get unthreaded while sewing.  Look at the sewing machine under your sewing needle. See the lines with the measurements? When you’re sewing, make sure your fabric is lined up with the 5/8 line, for super straight seams! When sewing, make sure your garment is inside out. When you’re finished sewing, flip the garment back and the seams will be invisible.  First, practice sewing to feel confident. Grab a piece of scrap paper.  Here’s what to do.  Line up your fabric against the 5/8 line beneath your pressure foot. Make sure the machine is plugged in, and the pedal is under your table. Turn the ma
