10 Crafty ways to surprise people

My dad is NEVER surprised, so I got inspired to come up with fun ways to surprise people who aren’t easily surprised. These are super sweet too, so they are fine for kids and people who hate surprises. Great for birthdays, harmless April Fools, and other such occasions.

1. Balloon door

When they are sleeping, tape a bunch of multi-colored streamers over their door. Make sure to just tape it on the wall, not on the door. Pop a bunch of balloons through the holes in the streamers, not securing them tightly. When they open the door, a cascade of balloons will fall out on them!

2. Underwear swap

Switch all the family member’s underwear. Switch a father’s underwear with a baby’s diaper etc.

3. Rubber ducks

Buy a BIG pack of rubber ducks. Fill the kitchen drawers, cabinets, closets, everywhere! with rubber ducks.

4. Breakfast in bed

Plan a special meal for a beloved family member and serve it to them for no reason. They’ll be so happy, and so surprised!

5. Balloon closet

Fill a closet entirely with balloons and tell a friend to open it.

6. Smoking toilet

Close the toilet lid. Place two rolls of toilet paper on top, acting as eyes. Place a hat on top of the “eyes”, stick a paper towel roll between the lid and the rim of the toilet, and yell “the toilet is smoking!”

7. Flooded bathroom

Similar to the previous surprise, this is a cute joke. Grab some water bottles and form a line of them coming out of the bathroom. Yell “there’s water coming out of the bathroom!”

8. Colored water

Dip a Q-tip in some green food coloring and swab the sink faucet. When the family member or friend turns on the water to fill their cup, it will pour out green! (Note: after surprise, rinse faucet with some soap and water.)

9. Jello Juice

Do your siblings love their fruit juice? Fill a glass with jello mixture, stick a straw inside, and let it harden.

When they go to get a drink, they’ll get a real surprise!

10. Rotten Milk

Draw a mean face with a Sharpie on the carton of milk in the fridge. Yell “ the milk went bad!”
