Room Reorganization 3: The Closet

Image
Hi! This is my third Room Makeover post, concerning the closet. Don’t worry fashionistas - your closet will look good in no time!  First, go through all of your clothes. What do you have stuffed in drawers that don’t fit, or that you don’t like?  Donate the things you don’t want anymore, and make piles of the things you want to keep.  The biggest change we made in reorganizing my closet was moving out my old dresser to make more room. Then we moved my shoes to where the dresser used to be, and set the shoe organizer aside for clothes. On the large shoe rack, we instead filled it with bins of folded clothes. Label the bins! Fill your favorite bag/tote with a notebook, a pen, some disinfectant, and a wallet. This is your grab-and-go bag that you can just grab on your way out the door, and know you have everything you need! Hang it on the side of the bin-shelf! Line up your clutches on top of the storage unit and place larger bags on the bottom shelf. I love this storage sol...

Room Makeover 2!

Image
Yes, the long awaited Room Makeover 2 post is here! Sorry for the delay, everyone.  Ok, you have your theme/aesthetic established. Great! Now, I was working on my own room, and I started cleaning as I was redecorating. So I decided to combine both of my posts into one!  I am NOT a minimalist. I like a lot of tchotchkes that bring me joy. But sometimes my crafting room can feel a little cluttered. (A lot cluttered.) So my motto for my whole reorganization was “how can I make this clutter cute?”  The following post(s) will contain tips for organizing your clutter, adding your own flair to your room #diyroomdecor, tons of photos, and ways to incorporate your own style you figured out by taking my mini-quiz!  Let’s get started, shall we?  First, get a few trash bags. Set one aside for, well, TRASH, and keep the other for donations.  Make sure that your donations are in good shape, and things that you don’t want anymore. Your TRASH trash bag should contain...

Home Decor Tips for Christmas

Image
It’s December 6, and we’ve been decorated for Christmas for over a month. So a Christmas decorating post is long overdue. Here I have compiled my top classy and cute ideas for Christmas decorating, complete with pictures of my own home. Enjoy! First, you need to get festive. Blare some Christmas tunes and grab some eggnog. Now, break out the bins of Christmas decorations I know are shoved in the back of that storage closet. Ah, hello Santa beards!  1. Rule of Threes  This is a trick all professional interior designers use. Group your Christmas tchotchkes into threes, whether that means a stack of three Christmas song books, or three Christmas cards on the coffee table. This is the number that will keep your space from feeling cluttered, but still have enough joy to make you feel Christmasy!  2. Utilize leftover ornaments. Fill a glass bowl with classy ornaments following the same color and shape scheme. Use as a Christmas table centerpiece!  Cute, right?  ...

Easiest potato recipe!

This is the tastiest potato recipe ever, and also so easy that anyone can make them!  This recipe is great as a dinner meal, and is still tasty for leftovers!  If you want to get extra fancy, make some broccoli and broil some blue cheese dipping sauce to complete the ensemble.  And these are great as leftovers for a few days after - simply melt some cheese on top and add some classic pesto and a pinch of herbs to make them extra tasty.  Ok, enough jibber jabber. Let’s make some POTATOES!!!! šŸ„” šŸ„” šŸ„”  Take two baking trays and line the bottoms with parchment paper, unless you have silicone mats already set up. Take some virgin olive oil spray or nonstick butter spray and grease the parchment. If you have silicone mats, just skip the spray.  Wash around ten potatoes, but it depends on the size of your baking trays, so just adjust this recipe to work for you. 🄰  Learn how to chop the perfect potato below!    Continue until you’ve chopped ...

Crafting - My Year in Review

The year is coming to a close. What have I been up to?  First of all, I started this blog. I created Cool Christian Crafter to bring a little light, humor, and art into the world. I want people to get in touch with their inner artist, with a little help from this safe, Christian blog.  A week ago I crafted in Paris and London. These beautiful cities not only provided iconic coffee tables and stone benches in lush parks to journal on. They gave me inspiration and hope for my crafting future. I am indebted to Europe for that.  While in Europe, I visited Yayoi Kusama’s infinity rooms. Kusama is my favorite artist and this experience is one I will treasure forever. Kusama’s art hits close to home because my grandfather also suffers from hallucinations. It’s his birthday today! I love the idea that beautiful masterpieces can be created from hard, sometimes scary hallucinations. I also enjoyed getting to literally peek inside Kusama’s mind.  I’ve also learned a lot f...

My Current Projects

Want a little peek into my creative world? Well, here’s what I’m working on!  1. Party Planning Once upon a time I was working on 5 parties at once, all featuring day long activities, two to three cakes, and too many gifts to open in a lifetime. I have since learned to downsize my parties, and they are still fun. Plus, now I’m only working on one, which helps. 2. Reorganizing my studio Well, that’s mostly my mom. . . Moms are the best, aren’t they? By the way, sorry about the second reorganizing post. It’s in progress and will hopefully come out sometime tonight.  3. Writing  Read my posts on books for inspiration!  4. Reading  When am I not???? 5. Christmas Crafting!  Lots of DIY gift posts coming your way. . .  So, that’s what I’m up to lately! What crafts are you up to? Comment about it!  Have a great day! God loves you!

My Art Story - How my love of writing emerged

I’ve always been creative - in one way or another. I’d say it really started when I was very little - maybe six.  Recently I’ve been going through old scrapbooks and memory boxes. I found a few pieces of lined paper, torn by little hands, containing some of my early poems.  Even though they’re not as well done as “don’t go gently into that good night” or any other of the great poems in our history, these scraps began the foundation of my creative life.  When I was in third grade, I had been working on my poems a little more. One time I wrote a little bit of rhyme, titled Trees, or something of the sort. I read it to my mom, and despite her praise, I never believed those words would make it off the scrap of paper.  Behind my back, Mom submitted my poem in a contest. She didn’t tell me, partly because I might get my hopes up, and partly because if it did win it would be a great surprise.  And, well, it was a surprise when my poem got published in a thick boo...
