An interview with someone who just decorated a house… Tips and tricks from the best!
Learn some pro tips about interior design from this master!
1. How do you get inspiration?
Different ways - from family and other people that I love.
2. What are your fav brands?
Hmm. . . I like antiques mainly. I like sturdy, well made, mahogany furniture, and anything that’s homemade. I always think handmade stuff is the best.
3. Which room was the hardest to decorate?
The living room. It is so long! It needed a lot of pieces to help fill the space. That was a challenge.
4. How long did it take?
Not very long! Our story is unique, I would say. I wanted to get done and move in quickly. But it is sort of an ongoing process. I like adding new pieces here and there.
5. What is the overall aesthetic?
The overall aesthetic is quite a mixture of different styles. I like old and new combined. It is kind of boho chic and vintage. I would say I’m a vintage person.
6. Any funny moments you’d like to share?
We had some funny moments, definitely. The mountain of wrapping materials was a highlight for me!
7. What was the biggest overall challenge?
Probably getting heavy furniture up the steps to the house. Especially that piano. And one couch didn’t even make it!
8. Any tips for beginners?
Yes. Go with your own feelings. Don’t be too influenced by so called expert designers. Do you!
9. What textiles do you like?
I really like quilts and, like I said, anything handmade. I use them as special focal points, by hanging them on walls.
10. What colors do you like?
I really like pinks and floral patterns and colors. I do seem to choose that a lot for my decorating! But I also like black and white. Each room has a different feel. The sunroom is black and white. The main living area is more flowery and pastel.
Any final words?
I really have enjoyed decorating a house purely based on things that bring me joy! It really was amazing.
Love this! So inspiring!!!
