Hello, crafters! I’m the Cool Christian Crafter and I feel so blessed to be a part of your creative journey!
Today, we’re talking about organizing a crafting studio. If you want to be your best and most productive self, an organized space is essential.
If you don’t yet have a craft studio, never fear! You can use an empty room or even a large closet for your space. Or you can convert a room into a studio, like a bedroom or playroom. Now, let’s get organized!
These pictures are of my own craft studio and reading room, complete with before and after pictures.
My messy craft room:
It’s pretty bad.
But never fear! There is hope!
I like to split my craft room into sections whenever I’m organizing. I have my desk, my reading nook, my craft table, and my floor. Oooh, that floor.
First, the desk. I take out all my supplies and categorize them into pencils, scissors, pens, notebooks, papers, and markers. Then I painted some mason jars and filled them with my writing implements. I pinned up photos and memorabilia on a bulletin board, and organized my papers in folders with DIY labels on them.
The notebooks I arranged in a pleasing rainbow order. Wanna see?
This is so fun and easy to do. . . Just pin up loose knickknacks and paint some mason jars to hold your supplies. Next on my list is the floor.
First I sort all the JUNK into two piles. Crafting related into one pile and items that should go someplace else in the house in another pile.
Place the non-crafting junk where it should go, and don’t be afraid to throw away some broken items or donate the items you don’t need. We’re making progress, and some other people would love the items you don’t need.
I put all of my shoes in the closet and organized any stray books. Now all that’s left are cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and fabrics for crafting.
I found an old tub in the basement the other day, and realized it fit perfectly under my craft table.
See?
I folded all of my stray fabrics and placed them in this catchall container. Now, when I’m working at my table, I can place my currant projects in the bin instead of having them strewn about the craft table.
The reason I love a craft table is because I usually like to write at my desk, but it would be covered in crafts. Now I have a spot to contain my crafting endeavors.
I went to my craft table next. One word: YIKES. First I got rid of all the trash. Then I put any current projects into my bin.
I found an old makeup organizer, and filled it with crafts instead. In it I put my favorite supplies: Hot glue gun, hot melt sticks, scissors, tape, and TP rolls. Yes, I do love TP rolls.
I have a fascination with pretty notebooks. I like to do watercolor sketches in them and make Mixed Media Art Journals in them. (I have several posts on the subject.) So I made a neat stack of them.
Finally I tidied up my reading nook.

Not gonna lie, kinda jealous. I don't have any place I could make into a craft studio, not even a desk!
