How to customize sweatpants

Have people been saying your sweatpants make you look like an old man with depression? Anybody? Nope? Just me then. Anyway, you’ll need some string, a needle, pins, a pincushion, beads, fabric scissors, and some pretty ribbon.

1. Get your sweatpants ready. Make sure they are a few sizes too big (use the above photo as a reference) so they stay nice and comfy. Wash them and let them dry. You always have to wash fabric before sewing it.

Pull out the waistband string.

2. Shorten them

Cut off the cuffs

You can use a ruler for precise lines. Roll up the ends until they become shorts. This is why it is important to make sure the sweatpants are baggy - as they roll up they get smaller.

Using the needle and thread, sew the cuffs in place. You can use a sewing machine, but it is harder to keep from accidentally sewing the two sides together.

3. Finishing up

Replace the waistband string with the ribbon. Sew on your beads with the needle and thread.

Enjoy your new chic shorts!
