Valentine Card ideas!

Yes it is the season of love! Are you feeling it? The romance in the air? Yes I am, mostly because my parents kiss in front of me a lot. ๐Ÿ˜ต‍๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคฎ But still, it is sweet that two people love each other so much. So let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day with some homemade card ideas below!

1. Origami card:

Take a piece of red card stock and cut a square out of it. Fold the square once into a triangle. Unfold and fold once more into a triangle, opposite the first crease. Fold it in half both ways, unfolding in between. Open it up. If you slowly compress the sides, it will pop into an origami model, which you can open and close creating a pop up effect. Cut out some glitter paper into two circles. Cut the edges into a point, making a pizza slice shape ๐Ÿ•. Using a glue stick, adhere one piece on the bottom, where it will follow the creases, and one pointing downwards on top. Write messages on the opposite sides. Add some loose glitter inside, as well as a few heart shaped pieces of construction paper. Fold down the top of the model, closing it, and tape it shut. When your recipient opens the card, glitter will pop all over them! Surprise!

2. Classic but cute:

Take a piece of vintage silver swirl paper and cut out a simple square. Use scalloped scissors for a special flair. Cut some glitter paper into hearts and glue them around decoratively. Dip a heart shaped paper lace piece into some red ink dye just around the edges. When it bleeds it will create stretch marks in a super cool way. Tape the square on top of the heart. Add a little bow on top and gift it.

3. Sliding Card:

This is pretty complex so bear with me here.

Cut a slit in the center of a strip of silver paper. Do not touch the edges of the paper with your scissors. Make a line through the strip, stopping just before the edges. Cut out an equal sized strip of red paper and set that aside.

Take a bamboo skewer and break it in half. Take the smaller bit and hot glue it on top of the long piece in the shape of a T.

Now, take your red strip and glue it to the silver strip. Make sure just to glue one end, one dot of hot glue, and that the strip is not affixed on one end or on the length of the cut mark.

Insert the skewer T like so. Pop the little end of the T in the slit. The long piece of skewer should extend beyond the strip length.

Now finish your product. Glue the red strip fully to the silver, just on the top and on the bottom. Do not glue the skewer or the slit in the center. Make a mini version of one of the cards above and affix it to the little skewer end. Add any extra glitter or decor on your strip and viola! If you tug the end of the skewer, the card moves back and forth!

One extra idea is to cut a mini heart in half and attach one piece to the little skewer and one on the end of the strip. Slide the skewer and look! The broken heart becomes whole once more!

Love ❤️ you guys! Happy Valentine’s Day!
