DIY Party Ideas

It’s party time! These ideas work well within any theme and will bring your party fantasies into reality! I hope that these cool cakes, daring decorations, and imaginative ideas will help make your party the best. Have fun and God loves you!

CAKE IDEAS
Here are some crazy cakes to get the party started! Above is a banana bread cake garnished with brownie crumbs and covered in globs of chocolate ganache.

Here are more cake ideas! The rainbow cake is one of my signatures - sometimes topped by a standing Skittles structure! Then we have a rich chocolate Reese’s Cup cake that lives fondly in my memories. You can also make a massive cake with butterflies on it to make you feel high in the clouds! The donut is another fun treat route, mainly because it looks like my dog (small and brown). The strawberry coffee cake is perfect for a brunch. Finally, a few Firework cupcakes can be achieved by taking a piping bag and making colored drips along the sides with different food dye shades. The batter is red and blue layered, creating a sunset effect when bitten. Don’t forget the edible luster dust!

DECORATIONS AND GAMES!

Print out signs that correspond to your theme. Create a streamer design by taping strips of crepe paper streamers along the edge of a table. If you don’t have streamers you can cut tissue paper to make this fun decor element!

Place cards are a great way to tie the theme together across multiple rooms. You can also come up with fun names for games and snacks and write them down on those neat little cards.
A piñata is a great activity for adults and kids alike. I once made a piñata out of only cardboard and hot glue for a super bowl party. I wouldn’t advise it. But you can easily make a piñata with a balloon and paper. There are a thousand tutorials online. Warning: making paper mache is very messy. Use newspaper to prevent spillage.
Name tags are always fun especially if people are going to the party in costume.
Balloon designs are fun and impactful. While a DIY balloon arch is difficult without the proper materials, using a marker to create faces or images on a balloon is easy and cheap. For our Star Wars party I made the white balloons look like storm troopers with the use of a black permanent marker.
If you don’t like the place card route, simply cut out an arrow shape on paper and write the activity or food on that. Tape it up to point the way!
You can DIY a bowling alley so quickly. Cut about six TP rolls in half to create the pins. Print out images off of the internet that correspond to your theme. Place your pins at the end of a long hallway and roll a ball to try and knock them down! You can use any ball. I wrapped a styrofoam ball in foil to create the look of a Star Wars asteroid.
Streamers also look good fanning out from a light fixture. Create a present station underneath the crepe canopy!
Riddles are always fun. You can look them up online or brainstorm your own. I always make a corresponding scavenger hunt, charades, and dares as well and put them in a fun little game station!

I hope you enjoyed crafting with me! Have a great day!
